Chinese Taipei – Czech Republic 27:30
We should call the revenge, behalf of the game in the preliminary round for the Czech team which their loss with a seven goals difference. But the game for the final standing was completely different. The Taipei players had not that kind of experiences and only three times during the game were able draw down the score. During the game they shots from the long distance and only Chia (TPE) who scored twelve goals was in touch with a compact Czech team. Czechs’ won but congratulation for the both teams a good participation in this tournament.
Japan – Lithuania 30:33
The bronze medal game between the soft favourite from Japan and Lithuania was very interesting. Japanese started better and first half they was in advance by two goals but after they lost their dynamics power and also they made too much unforced errors in the attacks. The Lithuanian played with common sense taken the advance in the second half and well controlled until the end. In the final standing they skipped the Japan and received the bronze. For Japanese left only the applause for theirs presented sport movement and fair play.
Poland – Hungary
In the main university sport hall in Gdansk we had an opportunity to see a good match for the title of the Women Tournament. The motivated host Poland team played very good during the all tournament and without loss of the point they were a small favourite. In the first half polish players played very well in the attack and they were supported by the good goalkeeper work. At the end of the half they leaded at five goals difference. Hungarian players were during this part of game little bit nervous and theirs attacks were not that effective. In the rest of the game the Poland players control the situations and did not give the possibility for the Hungarian changed the score. Also after the suspension of the best Hungarian player (Tapai), was not in the team someone who was able turned the match. Poland won and we knew than for next two years we should call them CHAMPIONS.
After the team competitions, the Closing Ceremony took place. During the Ceremony, the FISU EC delegate Mr. Bayasgalan had a speech and he thanks in the name of the FISU to all organizers for their excellent work and gave to the president of the OC W. Przybylski and FNSU vice-president W. Zimny the memorable plaques of the FISU. We will meet in two years in Venetia.

Ukraine – Croatia 37:28
Game for the eleventh place was completely stroked in the name of the Ukrainian players. Yesterday played well Croatian teams against Poland was not able repeated their effort and they loss with a nine goals difference. Only seven players in disposition were not enough for the visible compact played Ukrainians. And that was also one reason why Croatia the bronze medallist from the previous championship was not able sustaining their position.
Serbia – Poland 31:33
Host country of the world university championship took the ninth place but it was after the very dramatically game. Poland in the first part leaded with a difference of five goals but after they lost the concentration and Serbian players in the row of six goals change this game. During the second half they tried control themselves on the way of the winners but obstinate combatant Polish change their system and from the fast attacks turn the victory on their side.
Finally Poland is ninth and Serbian returned back home with the tenth place.
Turkey – Hungary 26:36
Delicate game for a seventh place between the emotional Turkish players and Hungary was completely under control of two women referees from the Czech Republic. The match started with little mistakes on the both sides but more concentrated Hungarian showed us that handball had a good background in their country. During the second half they build sufficient difference in the score and they won by ten goals. Thanks a lot for the countries for this participation.
Latvia – Japan 25:35
Until the sixth minute was a draw in this game for the fifth place but after that Japanese pressed more their rivals and they made a lot of mistakes which were punished by the quick Japanese. They scored almost from all counterattacks and the score was more and more visible. Latvian players between the tenth and twenty minutes were not able scored just one goals than score increased only in one side – Japanese. With a rational play their controlled the situations on the parquet and they took the fifth place.
Belarus – Czech Republic 35:27
Bronze medal game did not show us the exceptional handball. Czechs’ players maybe tired after the preliminary round was not hard opponents for the swiftly played Belarusian. Only for the one moment in the first half they were on touch but it was not enough. Belarusian played good during the tournament and they showed us their skills and also higher ambition to take the bronze medal. Finally they beat the Czech with eight goals difference. Congratulation Belarus!
Russia – Georgia 31:30
Two ex-soviet teams met in the final. The well started Russian players had not regret with Georgian players which were acted with tired image. They build quickly score in advance of fifth goals and had the first half totally in their hand. During the tournament also well played Georgian goalkeeper was not in the great form. But in the second half they started decreased the score and with the improved effort they catch the score as a difference of the one goal. But that was all from their part and in the end they did not had a time to make reversion. In the men’s tournament the Russian team defeated their title from the Chelyabinssk and we will see if they are able win also two years in Venetia (ITA).

| The last day of the tournament was bore in the name of the finals. During all day long teams beat for the final standing. In men’s tournament the winners of the groups met each other and in the women’s tournament first against second from the preliminary round. The last teams according the rules of the tournament were teams of Serbia (Women) and Chine (Men). And these are the results. |

Men
Turkey – Belarus 43:35
Last game between these teams did not change the final standing in the Group A, only the prestige pushed the players scored the goals and turn the victory on his side. During the first half the game was still draw but after in the second half Turkish players scored three goals in a row. Last minutes of the match were completely under their control and they won with an eight goals differences. But nothing wrong for the Belarus they go play for bronze medal against Czech.
Serbia – Chine 46:39
Last chance for the Chinese players subscribed the victory to the standing. But opposite was a true. Serbian, change their reputation started the game with cannonade and destroyed the Chinese from the parquet. Second half they just control the score and with the open defence gave to the Chinese players score the goals and corrected the final result. Anyway it was enough and they leave from the tournament without any points. Serbian they go play for the ninth place.
Russia – Ukraine 37:31
Ukrainian team which played for the better position in the Group A standing lost the last game again huge favourite Russia played in the training gait. Coaches had an opportunity tried all the players from the bench and also prepared the team for the final. Russian assigned next two points to the standing and without loss are only one time in this tournament. It will be true after the last game again Georgia?
Hungary – Czech Republic 29:31
We had the opportunity to see very good game in the second hall. Hungarian started better and during the first half they lead with three goals different. But Czechs supported with theirs funs turn the page of the match in the second half. With five goals in the row they changed the result and after with the smarted skills they did not give the chance to the Hungarian won this game. After the last whistle it was the Czech players who celebrated the victory and they go to play the bronze medal match.
Japan – Georgia 32:36
The Georgian players big as the mountain against the dynamics and speed Japanese, who will be the winner of the Group B, was a question before this important game for the both teams. But the first half was completely in the hands of the Georgians. They constructed well their defence supported with the excellent work of their goalkeeper and almost all actions finished by the goals. The different in the score before the end of the first half was catastrophic for the Japanese team. Nine goals in advance was too much also for them even they started the second half with the higher ambition to win. But it was too late and their rival played until the end with the common sense. Georgia is in the final.
Poland – Croatia 27:29
Both teams knew that this game was only for points. And also that approached to this game. Polish, which themselves presented during the tournament whit the great latitude for the victory started better and the first half they won by one goal. But Croatian with the opportunity kept some points beat them at the end. For host team the dream about the final was broken after the loss but they do not expect than their maximum will the ninth or ten place.

Women
Japan – Czech Republic 28:27 (15:13)
It was first of the deciding games in women’s tournament. Thanks to the win against Czech Republic, Japan have a chance to play for a bronze medal. Akie Uegaki was the best goal scorer in Japanese team once again. She scored 13 times. Asians controlled the situation on the parquet for almost all of the game. Czech Republic had a chance to tie the match, but in the last action Noji from Japan steal the ball.
Poland – Chinese Taipei 31:25 (15:14)
Players from Chinese Taipei had to play in this game on the maximum of their skills. Coach Jerzy Ciepliński put in the first squad players from the bench. Polish players were relaxed and smiling even they did something wrong. During the first half the score was around a draw. After the half-time Polish team raised the superiority on the parquet. Penalty shot goal by Wasak established the final score 31:25. After this game Chinese Taipei can think only about the fifth place.
Hungary – Lithuania 35:21 (18:12)
Last yesterday game in women’s tournament was about nothing. After previous matches Lithuanians knew they will play against Japan for the bronze medal. In the 8th minute of the first half they were winning 7:2 but from this moment Hungarians started to dominate on the parquet. When Ori scored from the short distance they were leading 9:8 and did not retrieve it to the end of the match.

Mr. Bayasgalan as we know the next year it will be the new election for the Executive committee. Do you envisage about your candidature again?
Yes, I think so and also the Mongolian University Sports Federation going to propose me as the EC member.
Could you inform as about the level of the University sport in Mongolia?
The University sports movement started in Mongolia in 1957 and situation was established in 1973 and Mongolia is one of the active members from the Asian countries participating in all of the University Games. Our teams participated up to 1973 in all of the Summer Universiade and since of the 1991 we also participated in the Winter Universiade. Of course, the Mongolia it’s very young country and we have many University sports clubs and also six National Universities and this is the reason why our national federation organize every two years national students sports festival.
What about the Handball in Mongolia and if you have the professional league what is the level compare to the Europe?
Actually we do not have professional league in the Handball. This sport s very young in the country and just four years ago the national federation was established. Two times was organizing the national championship and also they are some clubs which working under the patronage of the Universities, this is a development and starting period of Handball in Mongolia.
Month ago was the 7th World University Wrestling Championship in Ulaanbaatar. May you tell as something about this championship and what was your point of view?
Wrestling is one of the most popular sports in my country and we welcomed the student from all over the world. We received in the modern difficulty contrast and impressions and also around 400 athletes and officials from three continents are participating on this event. So I think the championship was very, very successfully in Mongolia and was the high level of the students participating also including the some world champions. I think that the athletes enjoined the cultural program also the technical point and also the level of the event.
Now we turn back for your FISU Executive member position. What is your activity and exact position in FISU Executive committee?
I have been elected in Daegu in 2003 and this is my first electoral season as the member of the EC. FISU have twenty three executive committee members which three are from Asia countries. The first part of my electoral seasons I looking have the FISU works also how is my chance to establish myself. Right now I’m also the member of the financial commission and I also to try help to FISU with my financial skills.

Interview with Marcin Kochanowski, Polish national handball team psychologist
What can you tell us about the importance of psychological preparation in handball? Is it more important for women or men?
Thinking that women are psychologically weaker is
a stereotype. I would say men and women are similar about that. When you ask about the importance I think it as important as tactical, technical and physical preparations. Sometimes it can decide about the final result.
Handball is a team sport. Is it more difficult to work as a sport psychologist with team than with individual sportsman?
For sure you have to work more because you have to prepare group sessions and individual meetings. You have to be with a team all the time. Team is created by different characters and personalities which have to cooperate on the parquet and beside coach, you are also responsible for it. This is not an easy job.
How does your ordinary work day look like? Do players come to you by them self or meetings with you are obligatory or maybe you call them when you decide they need it?
Definitely it can't be obligatory.If you order players to talk with psychologist it won't give expected results. I am a part of a team, I'm with them all the time- during trainings, meals, during their free time. I speak with them everywhere and I am to their disposition 24h a day. I prefer when players come to me
Do you really spent all your time with them?
As I told you training, meals, free time and so on. I have to be with them to know all the situation that happens personally not hearing about it from the others. I am one of them.
It seems that you are most useful before crucial games. What do you tell them? Do you have to motivate them more or you try to calm them down?
Truly saying it's an individual matter. Some players need to be motivated even before very important games. Others needs to free their minds and stop thinking about the pressure. Actually they need it not only before the game but also during the brake and after it.

Men
Serbia and Mont. - Belarus 32:49 (14:26)
Belarus, still hoping to take the leadership in group A, couldn't lose against Serbia. And they didn't. Being a better team in every element, they dominated from the beginning. Belarus thanks to their two very effective goalkeepers, had a chance to prove their speed in counterattacks. They scored 31 goals like that! Serbs seems to lose their spirit during the Championship. They showed us that they can play really well but yesterday they also showed us how you shouldn't play handball.
